ShIron is the Executive Director of Darkwood Film Arts Institute and maintains an active role in the making and marketing of independent motion pictures.

She has earned a Masters Degree in Education from Pepperdine University and a Bachelors Degree in Behavioral Sciences and Psychology from California State University, Dominguez Hills.

She has held teaching and administrative credentials, securities licenses and insurance agent and manager licenses.  Prior to entering the motion picture industry she worked with Primerica Financial Services, Girl Scouts of America and her own Motivational Consulting and Speaking Agency.  ShIron’s experiences span more than twenty years in management, sales, marketing, consulting and training.  She has made the City of Muskogee her homebase where she is active as an entrepreneur and volunteer.

During the past seven years of operating the Bare Bones International Film Festival, she has become a major source to independent filmmakers who shoot movies in and around Oklahoma. From phone calls to email conferencing, to personal visits, people seek advice and guidance from her.

ShIron was instrumental in starting the festival’s movie poster contest, Movie-Biz Career Talks, and now the “in-school” Student Animation Film Festival during the BBIFF.  The founder’s mission/vision for the Bare Bones International Film Festival is to bring a world of independent, creative, diverse and culturally rich films and filmmakers to the Muskogee community.

ShIron is author of several self-improvement books and tapes, and numerous “how-to” booklets on BareBones moviemaking, “Who’s Who and What’s What Film Terminology” and “Bare Bones Independent Film Business Management” books.   She is also the producer of the “Shoot ‘n OK” Greenlight Project for screenwriters.  The first recipient was “Male-2-Order”, a short romantic comedy shot on location in Tulsa, OK in 2004.  She reads over 200 screenplays and teleplays annually in conjunction with the Bare Bones Screenwriting Competition.

ShIron has received numerous awards over the past years, was one of the finalists for the “Best of the Best” from the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Organization for Women in Business.

OSCAR RAY-Actor, Stunt Performer, Screenwriter, Producer, Director, Cinematographer, Editor, Songwriter, Production Designer, Make-Up Artist, Special Visual Effects Artist, Costumer, Set Designer, Sound Engineer.

Began his career in acting in 1972.  A student of the ‘Stanislavski Method’, he performed with the Galveston Theatre Troupe, The Texas Players and the Little Theatre of Houston.  In 1977 he would be a part of the first community production broadcast on Cable television and was one of the original founding members of the prestigious “Theatre North” of Tulsa, OK, where the award winning actress Alfre Woodard began her career.

He later performed with Southwest Theatre Group of Wichita Kansas and was the founding member of “An Evening of Entertainment”.  After working as a stand-in for Lawrence Fisburne in the HBO production “Tuskegee Airmen”, Ray joined the Fullerton Modeling and Casting Agency in Oklahoma City and quickly became one of their most requested talents.

Assuming the helm of Darkwood Motion Pictures in October of 1995, he and his spouse/partner ShIronbutterfly, founded Darkwood Film Arts Institute (DFAI), a year later in August, 1996.  In it’s first year, the Institute trained more actors for film and television than all Oklahoma Universities and Colleges combined.  In the eight years since starting Darkwood Film Arts Institute (DFAI), Oscar has become one of the most sought after speaker-trainers in the Southwest and has won praise from both Education and Film Industry Professionals.  He is a regular guest speaker at the Bare Bones International and Script-2-Screen Film Festivals, speaking on topics relating to the Art and Business of Independent MovieMaking, Screenwriting, Marketing and Distribution.

The Nation’s foremost consultant for independent motion picture making, his advice is sought Nationwide by veterans and newcomers alike.  While working, both as a professional screenwriter and motion picture Director, he still donates hundreds of hours each year to helping At-Risk Youth through the ‘special programs’ division of Darkwood Film Arts Institute (DFAI) while still meeting his commitments to making two student films a year no matter how busy his schedule.

Affectionately dubbed “Superman” by his wife, Oscar has logged more than eleven thousand hours behind 16mm (film), High Definition (HD), Digital Video (DV) and video cameras in the last 9 years, more than virtually any filmmaker in the Southwest, if not the Nation.

A fierce proponent of “Independent Motion Picture Making”, he is working feverishly to produce a television series on Oklahoma Soil.  As co-creator of “The R.I.T.S.(Response-Intensive-Technological-Strategies) Method: The Science of Acting”, he has propelled actor training to a new level with a precision curriculum unlike any in the world.

“Funny, energetic, exciting and informative!” he is the ‘don’t miss’ instructor.
